Damask Divas to the Rescue!

Hi everyone!  We interrupt this regularly scheduled blog for a special post.  You just might want to grab a tissue or two...

I need to start by saying for the one hundred millionth time how much I LOVE being an Independent Consultant for Close to My Heart.  The decision to join Mandy's team, the Damask Divas, was literally life-changing for me.  I have tapped into creativity that I had no idea was flowing through my veins and accomplished things I never dreamed I would do.  But that, my friends, is just the tip of the iceberg.  I have been so blessed to join this group of ladies stretching literally from one side of the country to the other.  Their camaraderie and friendship was a perk of the job that I was definitely not expecting in the least.   I have met two of them in person, and these relationships have proven to be THE MOST AMAZING part of my journey down this path so far.  Recent events have shown me just how amazing these Damask Divas truly are...

One of my friends and card customers, Connie,  recently sustained horrible smoke damage from a fire in her basement.  It was triggered by a recalled Dehumidifier.  (PLEASE check THIS LINK to make sure you do not have one of these dehumidifier models in your home!)  She not only went through the trauma of the fire itself, but she also lost many of her things that just could not be saved, including a supply of cards that she had made at my workshops over the months.  I had no idea what to do to help.  OR DID I?  I was trying to replace the latest cards she had ordered when I decided to reach out to my fellow Damask Divas for help.  And did they EVER!!!  I have been receiving cards for two weeks now from all over the country to replace Connie's stash!  When I presented her with the box FULL OF LOVE from people she didn't even know it was a little overwhelming to say the least!  There were lots of tears, but what made me cry the most was the smile on her face!  :)  I could not have put that there without my Close to My Heart sisters!  I am so very grateful to them for making this happen so quickly.  It has been a whirlwind, and I wish I had thought to take more pics of all of the cards, but I captured a few photos of our gift...including the Large Organizer that makes a FANTASTIC card organizer!

After one week, I already had this many cards!

I made this great little tag for Heart 2 Heart.  It was perfect for the gift!

Like I said, I don't have pictures of all of the gorgeous and amazing handmade cards that the Divas sent, but there were over 100 in the end!  :)  Thank you, ladies for your amazing act of love and kindness!  :)  And Connie...they are still coming in, lol!!!

  3. I had the pleasure of being with my mom, Connie, when Amie brought over The Box. :) We were spending the morning doing inventory and cataloging all of her "total loss" belongings. Ugh!

How perfectly uplifting for her to experience such an incredible act of love! She was speechless and so very touched that The Divas took time to share such beauty with her, someone they don't even know. And there were sure tears!

She adores each card that was so creatively and lovingly made. She is still flipping through them just to see the PRETTY! Seriously, what other fire victim gets to send out such beautiful cards to those who helped her?! :)

Thank you, Amie for organizing such a perfect gift! And thank you to all the Divas who sent cards! Your work is stunning, as always...but it's extra special this time!!

Thank you!!!!! And check your dehumidifiers.
