Friday Before Father's Day

Father's Day is right around the corner, are YOU ready?  We are almost done with preparations, and I was able to pop (see what I did there?) two cards into the mail to beat the mailman.  ;)

I REALLY do like this new Father's Day My Acrylix from Close to My Heart this year...The Best Dad Ever.  I think the Jackson Paper Packet showcases it nicely...

This sentiment is easy to stamp in different colors and paper-piece parts of it for a great effect...

I was able to sneak in some of the retired Typeset Paper Packet that I used for my Mother's Day cards!
For my second version of the card, I wanted to make a bit of a western feel.  I replaced the hat with a cowboy hat cut from the Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up Cartridge...

I totally love the look of this one!

My dad is (was, lol) a red-head, so I HAD to make the mustache with Barn Red Ink...the tie is in Juniper.
Have a great weekend, everyone!  :)

Teacher Appreciation Week

As the mom of a kid with a learning disability who happens to hold a degree in Early Childhood Education, let me tell you, I APPRECIATE my kiddos' teachers!  I sure don't have as much time to create as I would like to these days, but I was feeling like showing them the love this week...and then the inspiration struck.  :)

I hopped on Cricut Design Space in the comfort of my own family room (watching a playoff game, no doubt since both the Bulls and the Blackhawks are making us loose sleep these days,) and was able to quickly design a little gift.

Did you know you can upload almost any kind of image into Design Space?  You obviously need to adhere to copyright laws, but I was not selling this image, so I found the superman logo to use on a fun little business card style gift that says..."I'm a teacher...what's your superpower?"

I also used the pocket card cut found on the Close to My Heart Artfully Sent Cartridge to design the back layer of the card.

I didn't have any suitable thank you cards on hand...and I have the super-cute Teacher Appreciation My Acrylix, so I made up some quick cards as well using the retired Typeset Paper Packet.

Who says the sentiment needs to be centered inside the card?

This gift cost me nothing other than time and supplies I had on hand, and I already know that it put a huge smile on at least one face.  :)  Just one of the MANY reasons I love to paper craft!

Throwback Scrabble Card for Moms

You just never can tell when inspiration will strike...and last night it hit me hard!

I was cranking out projects for not only Mother's Day, but also for Teacher Appreciation Week.  First, let me show you this super-easy, super-cute card I made with the retired Typeset Paper Packet from CTMH.  It has long been a fave of mine for school themed paper crafts--this one just happens to be for Mother's Day.

I have been telling my kiddos for YEARS that MOM, spelled upside down and backwards is WOW.  If you don't get the connection, try it again until your mom is synonymous with all the wow feelings you can muster, lol.  ;)  This is actually called an Asymmetrical Ambigram in our crazy English language--now you REALLY learned something today!

All the adorable puffy stickers not only make me nostalgic for my 80's style sticker album, but they are also a perfectly simple addition to the scrabble letters that were found in the now retired Footloose Paper Packet.

A strip of teal shimmer trim was REQUIRED as per my design manual.  ;)

I'll be back to share the rest of my inspiration tomorrow!  Don't forget to make the MOM in your life say WOW this weekend!  :)

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

We made it!  Today is the last day of school for my clan!  (besides that graduate still in bed, lol!)

I hit the easy button this year and bought each special teacher a gift card, so just had some cards to whip up to go along with them.  :)  I pulled out my favorite teacher card stamps from Verve...

I needed several cards since my kiddos have so many teachers, so I went with two sentiments, but just one pattern for all of the cards...

The paper is an awesome retired Close to My Heart packet called Typeset.  The letters and numbers are PERFECT for teachers!  :)  The zip strip from one of the papers actually made a cute little addition to the inside of the card.

I used my Close to My Heart Corner Rounder to give this card a unique shape.  I LOVE this new style corner rounder!  It lines up so easily and cuts through both layers of the card at once.

This one is my personal favorite sentiment in this set...

How many days of school do YOU have left?
