While my kids LOVE to watch Cake Boss, I would love to EAT one of those cakes! Is anyone hearing me out there? Anyhow, when I started to make this card, I got a teeeenie little bit into the cake decorating groove! ;)
This week is a brand new Color Dare and a new chance to play along to win the coveted Color Dare Diamond! Our Close to My Heart colors are Champagne, Cashmere, and another color of your choice. (Similar colors if you don't have this exact brand.) I chose Smokey Plum, one of my faves! This color combo felt classy and elegant, so I decided to make a card for a wedding we will be attending soon.
I used my Close to My Heart The Happy Couple My Acrylix stamp set. The ink is all in Smokey Plum, and I used a Colonial White A2 card base. This glitter paper is basically the same color as the CS I used, so you betcha I was using it! Way to bling while playing by the rules, hee, hee! ;)
On to the yummy factor. I really did find myself drooling as I imagined frosting this cake! I added lots of Bitty Opaques to decorate it, and Colonial White Rosette Ribbon as frosting. I am sure I have seen this ribbon used as cupcake frosting somewhere...not sure where, though. In the background of the card front, I used the Cuttlebug Divine Swirls Embossing folder to made a gorgeous complementary pattern on the Cashmere CS.
You can see the layers of the card a bit closer here...I popped that little bride and groom up with foam tape along with the cake.
To keep it simple and not take anything away from the front, I stamped a single image on the inside corner.
I love how this one turned out! I had tons of fun playing with cake decorating, but I still prefer working with paper! ;)
Now go get YOUR craft on and whip up a pretty paper project (not baking, lol) using Cashmere and Champagne along with another color of your choice. You can also use White or Colonial White as you see fit. Link up with us over at Color My Heart the Color Dare by 12 NOON on Thursday, August 8th for your chance to be on top! Can't wait to see what you make! :)
