Catching Up with a Buttoned-Up Birthday Wish

Hi everyone!

Time to play a bit of catch-up so you might have seen this card last month when I attempted to play along with my Close to My Heart upline's Card-A-Day Challenge.  The truth is, I am just too busy to be a card-a-day kind of girl, lol!  I did get quite a few cards made for over half of the month, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

One of the things I HAD to do was play with my new toys!  I finally used some of my rewards points on Amazon to pick up the Ranger Ink Blending tool that I played with at an Archiver's Card Workshop.  I used it on the background of my card for "Use a Button" day...

This technique is so easy it is pitiful!  Just use an embossing folder on your CS, lay it on a protected surface like this Kraft Mat, and ink away!  :)  I used a bit of a circular motion and moved onto and off of the paper as I went, inking up when needed.

I used the days of the week stamps on the My Life My Acrylix set.  This stamp set is included only in the Cricut Artbooking Collection available exclusively from Close to My Heart Independent Consultants like me!  :)

I laced the buttons with my trusty Waxy Flax, and attached them to the page with a glue dot.

Then on the inside I stamped Happy Birthday from the Perfect Fit Birthday My Acrylix.

Do you get it?  Sun-day, Mon-day......Birth-day!  ;)

Wrap It Up!

Hi everyone!

I stumbled upon a new blog challenge, well new to me anyway, when browsing some entries in other challenges.  It gets to be a lot to keep track of, so I try to knock it out right away if I can get to it, and I am really choosy about the challenges I participate in now.  This one is over at My Craft Spot.  There is a Monday Challenge, and this one is called Wrap It UP!  We are to create a project that holds a gift...super fun!

My next workshop will include making two gift card holders, so I knew what I would make right away!  This pillowbox cut from the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge is the perfect size for a giftcard...and super cute to boot!  (Dr. Seuss would be so proud of me right now!)  ;)  Would you believe the only paper I used is some White Daisy CS?  You bet!

Alright!  Can you believe I used mostly one stamp set for this one???  Yep!  I got out the Close to My Heart My Acrylix B1417 Perfect Fit Birthday set.  I stamped the "happy birthday" sentiment using first and second generation stamping on the pillowbox itself in Pear Ink.  That just means I inked the stamp, stamped it once(first generation), moved it, stamped it again(second generation), and then re-inked to repeat the process.

I used my 2 inch scallop punch as well as the 1 1/4 inch circle punch to make the little tag.  A tiny loop of silver shimmer trim secures the tag to the ribbon.  It is attached underneath the circle that is popped up with foam squares.  That little circle design stamped in Cotton Candy Ink is found on the Artiste Collection Kudos stamp set.  Bitty sparkles bling up the sentiment, of course.

Here is the back view.  You can see the gorgeous ribbon matches the stamped words.  I used my Pear Alcohol Ink Marker to color Close to My Heart's Color Ready Seam Binding Ribbon so they would be a perfect match!

See that little strip of washi?  SURPRISE!!!!  You can get your hands on it starting August 1st on my website!  It is one of the brand new products in the Close to My Heart Autumn/Winter Idea Book!  :)  I couldn't resist using a piece to hold the pillowbox closed at one end.

Well, I hope you see how easy it can be to stamp up a beautiful homemade gift package for that special someone.  The lasting impression on the recipient is worth more than money can buy!  :)

Here is a pic with all the super CTMH products, besides the Cricut Cartridges and adhesives, that are available on my website to make this project.

You can find them all in the links in my post!  Now go out and get your craft on!  :)

Born to Ride Birthday Mojo

YES!!!!  I always love it when the Mojo Monday sketch fits nicely into my current to-do list.  (AND when the card recipient doesn't read my blog!)  This one was almost too good to be true.  Trust me when I say that I needed a sketch to work off of when making the dreaded "boy"cards.  This might come easily to you in your crafty uniqueness, but for me, it just seems wrong to papercraft without blinging it up!  Soooooo hard to hold back.  My brother in law, however would undoubtedly prefer motorcycles to shimmer trim.  I will have to try to convert him at Christmas...but I digress!  On with the birthday card!  Here is my entry for Mojo Monday #292...

If you flip the sketch to the right a quarter turn, then you can see the lines and flow for my card.  I used Close to My Heart's C1483 Born to Ride My Acrylix Stamp Set to create a manly motorcycle and flames for my brother in law's birthday.   I haven't had a chance to use this Cuttlebug embossing folder until now, and I can't believe how much it looks like metal on the Slate and Whisper Cardstock!  Tell me if it is just me, lol.  ;)  The happy birthday sentiment stamped so much better than I thought it would on the embossed paper--it is from the B1417 Perfect Fit--Birthday My Acrylix.

I used some older patterned papers from CTMH for this one...my new stuff is all tooooo girlie!  For the flame, I made a puddle pad out of Ruby, Sunset, and Goldrush Reinkers.  LOVE!

Inside the card, you have to be careful while writing your message... ;)

I hope you enjoyed my walk on the wild side, lol!  Now, where's my glitter????  QUICK, I am having withdrawal symptoms!
