Washi Wednesday: Bible Journaling Edition

Welcome back to another wonderful washi filled post all about my latest Bible journaling!  I am SO grateful that you stopped by and hope you find inspiration here.

Back in January, I signed up for one of those "read through the bible in a year" emails...and wouldn't you know it, I finally read the first one for this post, lol.  I don't really thrive on structure.  Guess that is an understatement.  ;)

What I DO know is that when I seek God out in His Word--the Bible--He has a way of being very pertinent to me in my NOW.  SO whatever the reason I didn't read that verse last month...when I read it NOW--was the right time.  I hope that makes sense.  If I had read it then, it would not have had the right impact.  Don't let that encourage you to procrastinate--I'm just saying that God has a way of making ANYTHING work out.  :)

Here is what I started with in Exodus 14...

Remember--I'm a stamper and a sticker-er, hahaha, not an artist.  I LOVE playing with letters though, so tried a bit of fancy lettering.  I ran some fun gelato sticks over the lettering and rubbed it with my finger to blend.  This is SO easy and makes such a wonderful feeling.  Next came the washi!

Those last two words are kind of hard for me...lol.

 I googled some fonts to try and freehand for this page...the star was MY idea though!  :)

THIS gold polka-dot washi is one of my faves.

Since I have tons of Close to My Heart washi from being an independent consultant, I have a lot to work with...I have no idea how I collected SO many of the others though!  ;)

There's those two words again...sigh.

Washi Wednesday Meets Bible Journaling

Wellllllllllllll.....

It has definitely been awhile since I have posted a Bible Journaling update.  I know.  I haven't had nearly enough time to dabble...until lately!  I was able to finally get my Chapters washi'd (that IS really a term, you know.)  Check it out...

Let me tell you, this was more relaxing than I thought it would be, but it isn't for the faint of heart.  I didn't measure or anything, just eye-balled lining up the washi tape (some of them are on CLEARANCE right now on my website) along the edge while trimming it off with my non-stick micro-tip scissors.  The corners are definitely not all perfect and some of the strips wander, but let me tell you I love it!  The project came together just as imperfectly as I did!  ;) 

I only used the washi tape on the first page of each chapter.  I ran it along the length of the side and folded half underneath.

AND I wouldn't have it any other way.  There is a lot to be said for recognizing and admitting imperfections.  So why would I try to place perfection where I absolutely do not require it?  Jesus did that for me!  I am a work in progress, and by Bible Journaling certainly is too.  Freedom is absolutely freeing, isn't it?

Finally Friday!

Another week behind us, and another washi creation to share!

This one is the Celebrate Card that I cut from the Artfully Sent Cartridge...along with a matching envelope liner!

See yesterday's blog post to learn how you can tell where to place your washi by using the Cricut Design Space virtual GO mats.  It shows you right where the Explore will cut!

Now, I didn NOT cut the actual envelope for this one...I used the size A2 Value Pack Cards and Envelopes from Close to My Heart.  The liner fits them PERFECTLY when cut at the size below!  :)  As an added bonus, when you use a liner, it protects your card embellishments from the mail sorter.  Gotta LOVE that!

I have lots more fun with washi to show you, so let's go!

Yesterday, I used the washi covered letters I cut from the Celebrate Pocket card on the Artfully Sent Cartridge.  Today I'm going to show you the Pocket!  :)  This is what it looked like before assembly...

And here it is after adding a piece of black CS behind the letters!

I didn't want to add anything else just yet...I do have a plan for it, and will show you next week!  I also added a strip of Washi along the top edge of the opening so that anything I slide down inside the sleeve will go in smoothly without getting hung up on the edge of the black CS.

Washi Wednesday Meets #jrlcreativechallenge

I am so excited to share this washi project today...It has been on my brain's backburner FOREVER, but I finally got motivated and actually made it with the latest #jrlcreativechallenge -- getting creative with WASHI!

Washi is a super thin tape, so it doesn't add much bulk to your paper.  That means it will ALSO run through your Cricut machine stuck to CS!  :)

My first step was to design my cuts in Cricut Design Space so I could see exactly where on my paper to put the washi tape.  I used the following images from the Close to My Heart Artfully Sent Cartridge: the Celebrate Card (M10113C) sized at a 5 inch height, Pocket Card (M100F7D) sized at a 6 inch height, and Envelope #11 (MEF85D) sized at an 8.65 inch height.

After you save your design, click the GO button to view your mats.  This will show you exactly where to place your washi on a piece of CS.  In this case, I decided to go all out and washi the whole 9 x 12 CS!  :)

Here's a quick tip--go slowly when unrolling washi!  It is super-thin, so likes to come off before you are fully ready for it to rip sometimes.  Luckily, it is also easy to piece back together--bet you can't tell very easily where I had to!  ;)

I used my Non-Stick Micro Tip Scissors to trim the washi.

Next, place your CS on the cricut mat and cut away!

Another use for washi!  Holds your CS to your mat!  ;)

I decided to use just the letters for my first project.  I placed them roughly in the same places as they were on the cutting mat to align the washi lines...the black CS really made the colors POP!

A few silver sequins as embellishments, and I was done!  :)

Washi Wednesday!

JUST when you think I have run out of ideas for using my washi tape....

my fuse blows!  There were some crazy storms out here a few weeks ago, and now whenever we turn on the outside house lights, WHAMMO, the fuse blows.  I didn't want anyone to accidentally flip the switch so...

you got it!  I picked out a complementary shade of washi and taped that bad boy down!  ;)

Washi Wednesday Is Back!

Hi everyone!  I am back for a quick rendition of Washi Wednesday--the day I share my latest and greatest uses for you washi!

This was sort of a stumble-across discovery if there ever was one.  I was using my Martha Stewart place and punch recently and needed it to punch PRECISELY in that place.  The paper tends to move like crazy when the magnets spring into place, so I needed something to keep it from moving...enter my washi!

I used a strip to hold it right there so it would not move when I snapped the other half of the punch on top!  I guess I DO have three hands when I need them sometimes!  ;) 

This happens to be a great sneak peek of a card that I made, lol...so tune in Friday!  :)

Washi Wednesday!

Happy Hump Day!  Just a super-quick hello with a washi tip today! 

If you use steel wafer dies, you MUST have washi on hand to keep the dies in place while you roll them through your machine.  :)  You can see how this little strip of washi tape holds it in place here with a die that I won from My Creative Time a couple of months ago...

One of the MANY reasons I love my washi tape!  :)
