Time to Bring on the Color Dare!

I cannot believe I haven't played along yet this year, but it is TIME!  What better chance to prove that I can overcome Sorbet than with a challenge, lol!  If you have been a follower for a while here, you know I don't exactly have the warm fuzzies for the CTMH color Sorbet.  It just isn't "ME."  Well, I think the time has come to say that I can definitely use it more easily now thanks to my time spent on the DT of the Color Dare!  ;)

Here we go again, so let's do it!  The colors for this week's Color Dare are Sorbet, Blush, and Juniper.

My inspiration for this card comes from another Amy!  You can see Amy O'Neil's card on her blog, Amy's Paper Crafts HERE.

I used the same basic elements in my version of the card for a whole new look.  My sentiment is from the Big Hug My Acrylix stamp set.  The flowers and Polaroid cut are found on the Close to My Heart Artiste Cartridge.

I also used a few My Acrylix sets to make the flowers and leaves:  Buttons, Bits, and Bobs, the retired Pemberley Workshop on the Go stamp set, and Hello Blooms. Those great sequins are from Studio Calico where I will be taking a color class soon!  :)

The Blush CS flower has a bit of extra flavor since I ran it through my Big Shot  with our brand new Dot Embossing Folder.  Take a peek at this amazing new video from CTMH as Jill explains how to use our white core cardstock with your embossing folders...

I never knew that about using the grain of the paper when embossing, did you?

Anyway, I sure had a great time with Sorbet this time by playing along with my friends at the Color My Heart Color Dare.  I dare YOU to play along too!  :)

Guess what!?  Now is the perfect time to stock up on your cardstock AND try out the new embossing folders...FOR FREE!!!  That's right...when you buy two packages of our bulk solid color cardstock, you can choose a FREE embossing folder while supplies last!  Don't wait to take advantage of this offer on my website HERE!  Simply add the two packs of cardstock to your cart, and then you will be prompted to add the free embossing folder.   Happy shopping!  :)

One More Chance for Color Dare!

I guess I did get a bit carried away with the color combo for this week, lol.  The deadline to link up over at Color My Heart is today at 9pm CST, so you still have time to play with your Smoothie and Topiary CTMH colors (or similar)!

Here is one more version of the card I showed you on Monday.

I used Saddle Ink on the flower and leaves this time...and matted the White Daisy with a piece of Saddle CS as well.

A really pretty CAS (clean and simple) card that didn't take long at all!  In fact this is a good way to make several cards at once.  Just cut out multiples of each element, stamp, and assemble!  :)

Now go play!

Color Dare #48 Take Two!

So, I mentioned on Friday that I originally made up a floral themed card with this week's Color Dare colors from Close to My Heart, Smoothie and Topiary.   Appropriately enough, I used the June Stamp of the Month, A Flowering Bunch, lol.  Flowers, anyone?

I really wanted to add this glitter button in the middle, but it was kind of small to go it alone.  It was the perfect opportunity to add a flat button!  Huh?  What's that, you say?  Well, with Close to My Heart's My Acrylix stamp set Buttons, Bits, and Bobs, you can do just that!  Add a button without the bulk!  This is an amazing solution for those of you who don't like the bulk of buttons on your scrapbook pages, but like the look!  :)  The Cricut Artiste Cartridge contains the shapes that match the stamps, even down to the buttonholes!  See how I was even able to thread the Bamboo Waxy Flax right through them both?

To complement the stitching in the leaves, I added a faux stitch around the edges of the size A2 card with my Bamboo Marker.  The sentiment is stamped in Saddle Ink.  Love this color combo!

It definitely isn't too late to play along with the Color Dare this week, so play along and link up with us at Color My Heart before 9pm CST on Thursday!  :)

Also, if you find yourself drooling over this Stamp of the Month, don't wait!

When June is gone, so is this stamp set!  You can get it either at the regular price of $17.95 or for only $5 with a $50 purchase on my CTMH website HERE!  :)

Color Dare Time Again!

Hi everyone!  Another week has flown by, so here we go with another Color My Heart Color Dare.  Our challenge colors this week are Close to My Heart Smoothie and Topiary.  A great pair for summer and flowers!  I popped out some flower cards, but really wanted to give the challenge a bit more of a go...sooooooo I grabbed my Close to My Heart My Acrylix B1408 Buttons, Bits, and Bobs and got to work.  Somehow, I managed to end up back at flowers!!!  Take a peek...

I did not intend to make a flower, let me be perfectly clear about that.  It just kind of GREW into one!  My neutrals that I chose this week were Saddle, Bamboo, and White Daisy.

I stamped the buttons in Smoothie Ink.  I used the Bling buttons that are available in the clearance section of my website for the flower button.  Crazy low prices over there, but low supplies so check them out fast!  The centers are all tied with bits of Bamboo Waxy Flax.  Then I realized that the little stem on the June Stamp of the Month, S1306 A Flowering Bunch, would be amazing on that round button!  Yeah...and just like that I was back at floral arrangements, lol.

One of the amazing things about Close to My Heart stamps is that they are completely flexible.  I curved this stem on the acrylic block to make it just the right shape for my card.  It is like having 20 stamps in one!  LOVE!

I have to admit that the sentiment I started with from the same SOTM was not anything I saw as card-worthy until I used it here.  I envisioned it in scrapbook layouts, but found out it makes an amazing card sentiment too!  Those Bitty Sparkles were MADE to enhance this font--they are the perfect size to fit the flourishes.  What do you think?

I will show you my floral cards a little bit later, but for now--it's YOUR turn to make a project using the Close to My Heart colors Smoothie and Topiary, or something similar if you don't have those two.  Link up with us at the Color My Heart Color Dare to compete for the Color Dare Diamond Badge for your blog!
