A Card for My Girl on Her 21st Birthday

OK, I had put this one off for as long as possible, but the time had come.  Too quickly.

My girl is turning 21 today.  My mom heart was screaming at me that this cannot even be possible while my creative side (being held in check by said mom) was chomping at the bit to do what it does best.  Even so, the build up to the occasion was far toooooo intense for any part of me to even think about.  I couldn't bring myself to make the card.  Nothing was right.  Until the night before, of course!

Side note:  The whole "night before" business is of course what led to such drab photos, but it is what it is, lol.

My girl is a rose gold kind of girl, so I used one of my favorite dies from Avery Elle to add a ring of hearts in a rose gold foil from my stash.  They form a frame around a circular window in the front of the card that I made with my 2.5 inch CTMH Circle Thin Cut Die.

Inside I used two brand new colors coming from Close to My Heart in August called Bashful and Heather.  I gotta say, I adore them both!  The balloon image is found on the Happy For You My Acrylix while the numbers are included in the beautiful Pen Pal Alphabet set.  That little bow on the balloon is so adorably delicate!

I originally didn't use the circle die on the inside, but alas, I forgot to put my foam behind my card with I stamped the balloon inside the first time--and it was the easiest way to cover up the oops.  ;)

Oh, yeah!  I also used the new Charcoal color Ink for the word, birthday!
My "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from the CTMH Happy to Be Friends stamp set.  Did you know that if you buy two of these sets during Stampaganza in July you would get the third one free!?!  Every stand alone stamp set except the Stamp of the Month is included in this crazy deal!!

Only in July!

Happy Wedding Day Card

I cannot believe how back-logged I am in sharing my pics lately, lol!  I guess I am spending way more time stamping than blogging...which isn't necessarily a bad thing, eh?  ;)

OK, so here is a super quick yet beautiful wedding card I made for my daughter to take along to her BFF's mom's wedding.  Lucky me had a bunch of beautiful flowers from the Ellen Hutson Courage set already stamped and cut just waiting for me to "plant!"

I combined some paper and sequins from the Prickly Pear Paper suite from Close to My Heart with the flowers, but made sure to keep them the center of attention.  My heart thin cut was an easy way to center the sentiment from Happy To Be Friends on this one!  Oh how I adore this font! Next time I think I will stamp the "Happy" in another color or a second generation from the "wedding day" part of the sentiment to make a little more clear.  Definitely didn't have time for a re-do on this day, lol.

By the way....it was the PERFECT day for a wedding!!!

I'm linking up with the Ellen Hutson June Mix It Up Challenge for the first time.  Kind of a new discovery to me, so I'm pretty excited!

Like A Boss!

Welcome to my blog and the Like A Boss Blog Hop!  You are in for a SUPER treat today!  This hop is all about embossing...in all forms!

Our short (but bossy) hop runs in a circle, so just keep reading and clicking on the next blogger's link and you will be heading in the right direction.  :)

My project involves both dry AND heat embossing.  I really don't know which one I prefer!

Just in case you aren't the bossy type...this is an example of dry embossing supplies...creating a texture on cardstock when you run a plastic embossing folder through a machine such as the Sizzix Big Shot...

Scallop Embossing Folder
AND this is an example of heat embossing supplies...creating a shiny raised image by stamping with Versamark Ink, sprinkling with embossing powder, and then heating with a heating tool until it changes...
Ranger Clear Embossing Powder
VersaMark Ink
Craft Heater
You can see the heat embossing on the blue swirls in this snippet of my adult coloring book page in this close-up.  I used a fine line glue pen to outline them and then sprinkled with a mixture of clear embossing powder and prisma glitter (a retired CTMH super-fine glitter.)  I dry embossed a piece of White Daisy CS with the Floral Embossing Folder for the panel behind it...

Let's not forget all that SWEET Shimmer Trim I managed to use--the colors just matched all the coloring with my ShinHan markers SO WELL!  I used Coral, Aqua, and Green...along with a beautiful sentiment from the Happy to Be Friends My Acrylix stamp set and the Florence Sequins.

Which kind of embossing do YOU enjoy most?

Which kind of embossing did KELLY use?  Check it out over on her blog by clicking on her name!!!

Here is the entire creative lineup for Blog Hops with Heart this month!  Happy Hopping!

Let's Talk About MOTHERS!

It's almost May, so that means you need to start thinking about that special lady you might have in your life--your MOM!  My upcoming card workshop features a beautiful combo of papers from the Brushed Paper Packet in a card just for her!

Brushed

This sentiment surrounded by fabulous green glitter is from the Happy to Be Friends My Acrylix that was introduced in the Seasonal Expressions 1 Idea Book last fall.  Don't worry if you didn't notice it then--I finally realized its full potential!  ;)  Plus, you can use whatever sentiment you like for this one at the workshop if you don't need a Mother's Day card!

Green Glitter Paper
Wait a minute, though...we don't HAVE any green sequins yet...how?  OH, yep, I sure did color this one with my Leaf Green ShinHan Alcohol Ink Marker!

I started off with a white one from the Coral Reef Sequins Assortment...
