Color My Heart Color Dare #23

Time for the first challenge of the new year!  And would you believe I didn't add a drop of sparkle???  YIKES!  This card is for the Color My Heart Color Dare #23.  We were to make a project using the Close to My Heart pastel colors Gypsy and Sky along with any neutrals we would like to add.  I added Chocolate and White Daisy to make this card for my friend.

One of the reasons that I adore the color dares, is that it gives me a starting point for a project.  Do YOU ever get overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices you have when beginning a card or layout?  Having a starting point, like a color scheme, instantly makes the task more manageable.  The color dare just happens to be a fun way to have a starting point too!

Another sure fire way to narrow down your options is to choose a single stamp to use as the focal point of your project.  Here, I chose to use a stamp from the brilliant Cricut Art Philosophy Collection from Close to My Heart.  I was able to cut the coordinating size image that exactly matches the stamp by looking at the size on the clear carrier sheet.

Here is my creative formulary for this card:

White 3 x 7 card base from art supply catalog
Provo Craft Script Embossing Folder
*Cricut Art Philosophy Collection
*White Daisy, Sky, and Gypsy cardstock
*Chocolate, Sky, and Gypsy Exclusive Inks
*Sparkles Red, Pink, and Purple assortment
*Buttons Blue Assortment
*Chocolate Organdy Ribbon (retired)
*White Baker's Twine (single strand tied on button)
*Burlap Ribbon (single strand tied on button)

Time for a Tip!

Here is a little tip for adding ribbon to the front of a card.  The organdy ribbon that I used here is simply cut to length and taped to the back of the Sky cardstock--there is no need to use the amount of ribbon you would need to tie it around the entire length.  I made the bow separately with my Bow Easy and then attached it with the strand of twine that runs through the button.  A nice big glue dot placed strategically underneath keeps it all in place on the Sky cardstock.  Here is a picture of what is under the bow...

I just used a little bit of string to gather the ribbon so that it appears to be one length of ribbon with the bow tied the the intersection.  This is just easier for me to get a beautiful bow and turn it the way I like while conserving my supplies.  :)

Thanks for stopping in, now get out there and sparkle!

Color Dare #8 and Heart 2 Heart Sketch Challenge July 2012

One card for two contests!  Yep, that is what busy girls do--get the most out of your mileage!  I made this card for both the Color Dare Challenge #8 and Heart 2 Heart Sketch Challenge for July 2012.

For the Color Dare, we were to use the split complimentary pastels sky, pear, and smoothie.  The Heart 2 Heart sketch looks like this:

Here is the fun card I came up with combining the two challenges:

I just received A Tulip size A My Acrylix stamp set with my Stampaganza order and wanted to give it a go.  I peeked into my scrap drawer and found the negative of this flower cut from the Art Philosophy Cartridge.  Perfect!

The border stamp was a challenge in the White Daisy Ink, but I am happy with the final look.

Here is my supply list:
Pear, Sky, Smoothie, White Daisy and Kraft cardstock
A Tulip My Acrylix Stamp Set (not available after July 31st!)
Smoothie ribbon from the Pink Collection (not available after July 31st!)
White Daisy and Pear Exclusive Ink Pads
White Daisy Crochet Flowers (no longer available, but easily substituted)
Paradise Assortment Baker's Twine in Smoothie (not available after July 31st!)

You might notice that there are a few items not available after the end of this month.  Here is a complete list of the COLORS going away with the new Idea Book launch on August 1st.  If you want any inks or papers in these colors, you need to act now!  The ad faces are my favorites of these that I will miss.  :(
