End of Summer Blog Hop

Wait, WHAT!?!?!  Didn't summer just start about a week ago?

I promise I won't start whining (even though I WANT to) because you probably came over from Stephanie's Blog looking for something crafty, lol, NOT to join in on a pity party.  Soooo, before my tantrum starts, here you go!

Last week was the start of another school year for me (so long, summer, sniff), and I saw a FANTASTIC piece of art shared on a friend's Facebook wall that featured a teacher's prayer that I had never heard.  By the end of the looooong first week, I NEEDED to create it for daily inspiration.  Here's my take on it and the link to the original piece of art.

original artwork doodle by Stephanie Ackerman
You might recognize the retired Close to My Heart Chalk It Up paper I used in this artwork...it's really perfect for "teacher stuff."  I used the Marker Alphabet set to stamp the title in Ruby, Tangerine, Lemon, Willow, Lagoon, Pacifica, Pansy, and Blossom.  I also used Jennifer's Hand for the word "prayer" and the Handwritten Print Alpha for the "a."

Now, my original vision of this project involved me stamping most of the prayer, but I quickly came to my senses and designed the rest of the prayer on Design Space for the Cricut Explore.  I used a few different cartridge fonts including Artistry, A Child's Year, and two Creative Memories fonts.

I changed all of the fonts to "write" and duplicated the words I wanted to cut so I could also cut them by setting them to cut lines again.  I was quite ecstatic to find that the cricut pen was alright with me using my ShinHan markers to fill in some of the words--it didn't bleed at all.

The images and dies from the School Kids set were PERFECT for this project!

Well, of COURSE I used some red glitter paper!  ;)
I added a few other tidbits from various Fundamentals line products like the Adventure Ribbons  and two retired complements packs.

I hope you found some inspiration here, but for now you are off to Kelly's Blog to see what she's been up to this summer!

Here's the entire lineup for our little blog hop in case you get lost as you drown in your summer's end tears...

Monkeying Around with the CTMH Rustic Home Fundamentals

OK, it isn't Fundamental Friday, but I'm back to share another layout with the Close to My Heart Rustic Home Fundamentals Papers--some of my favorite scrapbooking papers!

All the little embellishments are from the soon to retire Baby Boy Complements pack--definitely not JUST for boys!  :)  I also used papers from the retired old style Fundamentals and Some Kinda Wonderful Paper Pack.  It's some kinda wonderful indeed how all of our old and new products combine so well!!!  ;)

LOVE these silver foil and glittery accents!  Here you can see the embossed wood grain on the fundamentals kraft paper...

I also used the Marker Alphabet My Acrylix stamp set to create the title for my page.  This month ONLY, you can stock up on your CTMH stamps on my website by getting one free for every two purchased!!!  BEST deal of the year!!!

B2G1 FREEEEEEE!!!!
Speaking of Alphabets, don't forget to grab this month's Storybook Alphabet for just $5 with your $50 purchase!

Watercolor on Wednesday

Welcome back to my little crafty blog!

Yes, I have been MIA for a bit, and I have not one, but TWO very good reasons for that.  The first is the fact that I have been completely consumed with watching my CUBBIES win the World Series last week!!!! (photos courtesy of trolling Facebook)  ;)

In my lifetime, I have seen every Chicago team win a championship!!!

OH my word, do you even believe it!??  I am STILL pinching myself to be sure it really happened!

OK, so the second thing consuming my time is not nearly as fun...through NO fault of my own, my internet provider (AT&T, and I highly suggest dropping them after this experience) suspended my email account!!!!!!  I have had this account since approximately the year 2000, so just slightly less time since the Cubs won their last series, lol.  Long story shorter--I have since been spending all my evenings getting into ALL my online accounts and updating my email addresses.  You can imagine the headache--especially when I cannot for the life of me remember my passwords!  I am using only a gmail account now and I HIGHLY recommend you use one instead of any email address that you are essentially paying to use.  I do NOT want you to have to go through this experience.  Trust me!

Now, on to the crafts!

I recently used an amazing piece of watercoloring that my daughter painted with my CTMH Watercolor Paints with a dropper....and I used it as a scrapbook layout background in her baby book!

You should have seen her face when she saw the layout...she was SO proud.

I added some of the Baby Boy and Girl Complements for some easy-peasy interest...and also some Enamel and Glitter Duo buttons and Gypsy stamped letters from the Marker Alphabet My Acrylix.

I love that my girl loves it!
